Adopt-a-Shoreline update
In response to the appearance of Curly Leaf Pondweed in Lake of the Falls, our Adopt-a-Shoreline project continues to grow. Here is the latest version of the map, with the names of a few more families who have committed to checking their shorelines regularly for CLP, and either pulling it out or asking for help whenever they find any. We still have some areas left to cover, so, who’s next? We’re finding that we have small areas of new CLP growth near several docks on the lake and up the river. It’s likely that people are unwittingly boating through it when they go out on the lake, then cleaning their propellers when they get home and starting little CLP gardens of their own. Please be careful when you clean your boat, not to let any bad weeds fall into the water! Toss them onto dry land where they can’t do any harm. And check around your dock to see if this has already happened to you. A few of the larger CLP patches at the north end of the lake have been marked with orange buoys. We have organized a couple of “pulling parties” in the coming week
