We have created a separate page to cover the Wisconsin state legislature’s shoreland zoning changes and ICLRA’s efforts to keep us informed about this important issue.  Check their blog for updates as they occur.

Who we are:
ICLRA is a nonprofit association of lake associations in Iron County and individuals who use and care about protecting our waters. Visit ironcountylakesalliance.blogspot.com or email ironcountylakesandrivers@gmail.com

Our goals:
• To influence county and state government decisions affecting our lakes and rivers
• To celebrate, preserve and protect Iron County waters through education, programs and activities
• To build partnerships with neighboring lake and river associations

What we do:
• Hold 3 educational programs per year with qualified speakers
• Sponsor activities featuring water use
• Hold one business meeting per year on the fourth Saturday in July
• Study issues and make recommendations to county government
• Advocate for lake and river associations and individuals
• Participate in area events

Past programs and events:
• Panel of speakers on past, present, and future shoreland zoning
• Local shoreland zoning issues, zoning administrator Tom Bergman
• Monitoring our rivers, Bad River Watershed Association
• Manitowish River/Rest Lake Dam, Bob Martini and John Bates
• Mercury levels in our fish population, GLIFWC
• Importance of wetlands, Tracy Hames, Wisconsin Wetlands Assn
• Boating and water safety, Matthew Meade DNR
• Shoreland restoration, Heather Palmquist, ICLWCD
