Get ready for the annual meeting!

Our LOFA annual meeting will start at 11:00 am on Sunday, August 3, 2025 at Beaver’s Resort. We have a lot on the agenda for this one, so we can all save some time by reading this supporting info before the meeting.

First of all, LOFA VP Dave Anderson and members of the Fish Committee have been working with DNR Fisheries Biologist Zach Lawson on a project to enhance our lake’s fish spawning habitat. Read this letter from Zach and take a look at this map to get an idea of what they are working on before we discuss the project at the meeting.

And, the channel markers that have been guiding boats into and out of Lake of the Falls since 2007 are showing serious signs of wear, and should be replaced. They were originally placed to control rampant weed growth in the channel. More recently, guiding boats through the channel has the advantage of reducing the spread of the aggressive aquatic invader, Curly Leaf Pondweed. Read the history of the channel marker project by looking at the LOFA annual meeting minutes from 2005, 2006 and 2007, and check out the Waterway Marker Permit that was received from the WDNR in 2007. The three quotes obtained for purchasing the new markers are here, here, and here.

After many years of service, a few of our board members are planning to step down in 2025 and 2026, and four officer positions will be up for election at the meeting. Consider becoming a board member! It’s a great way to get to know your neighbors around the lake and have a major influence on what happens here.

The Annual Picnic will immediately follow the meeting. See you there!
