The Deep Water Fish Stick project is underway!
On two cold and snowy days this month, board president Stephen Bayer and a crew of hardy LOFA members volunteered their time and energy to drag bundled, weighted treetops out to designated locations on the icy lake to create new habitat for fish. When the ice melts in the spring, the bundles will drop to the bottom in the deep-water locations and become new homes, shelter and spawning areas for a variety of fish species. Hopefully, a few years from now, this will mean that there will be more fish for you to catch! Details of the project can be read at this link, and you can see a few more photos of the work being done on LOFA’s Facebook page. Thanks to everyone involved for their energy and hard work!
